I’m Laura Brown, an experienced digital content editor with skills spanning across B2C and B2B content marketing.

Since winning the Clothes Show’s Young Journalist of the Year Award in 2015, I’ve spent the last decade developing skills in writing and editing, with a particular focus on SEO. Now, as a freelancer, my key goal is to help businesses reach wider audiences online.

Experience

For over 5 years, I worked as a digital content editor for the personal finance website Save the Student. I initially joined the team as a junior editor, before working my way up to the position of Head of Editorial.

This role involved overseeing the website’s editorial content and project managing their annual student surveys. The surveys received national press coverage and gained the attention of politicians, sparking my initial interest in PR.

Key parts of the role were writing, editing, SEO and PR. In particular, a central focus was ensuring all editorial content across the website was highly optimised for search engines and readers. Alongside this, I also boosted traffic through social media, with Instagram being a strong focus.

Then, to further develop my skills in strategic communications, I joined a technical PR agency as a Senior Account Executive. In this role, I supported B2B clients in the STEM industries with public relations and SEO. Through a combination of web page optimisations, thought leadership articles, blog posts and LinkedIn content, I worked to strengthen the visibility of brands online and offline.

 

 

AI Policy

I’m a huge believer in the importance of human-written content, so I never use generative AI tools to write.

As such, if you commission me to write – whether for a web page, an article or a social media post – you can be confident it will be written from scratch. I see this as the best way to produce genuinely original and thoughtful content that engages with readers on a human level.

Although I don’t use it for writing, I may use AI tools for some administrative and planning tasks. My main priority, though, is ensuring my clients are happy with my work. So, to establish how much (if at all) you would like AI to be used in our projects, we can discuss it in our initial consultation.
